Introducing Mimi to you – she’s got a head for hats!
A birthday present from Peter that has arrived in advance. Mimi is my new friend and fellow hat lover (she is not happy unless she has a hat on her head!).
I had dreamed of having a DecoEyes mannequin head but I believe the company is no longer in business because although their website is still out there, they don’t reply to emails. I had my eyes set on Matilda but unfortunately it was not to be, at least not for now.
So I started looking for an alternative and I found my dear Mimi (officially known as Mimi3). A US seller on Ebay that ships overseas had it, and with the exchange rate as it is, it was a good deal. She was well packed for the journey and arrived in about 10 days, which is pretty fast if you ask me.
What do you think of Mimi? I like her big blue eyes and flapper hairstyle, she also has a beautiful long neck, and looks great with a hat on.
She’s made of fiberglass, so she’s very light, and her make up seems to have been spraypainted, although some of the details might have been hand applied.
I had to use scotch tape to keep in place a couple of the hats I have taken pictures of.
Because her headsize is 22″, all of my hats fit her (loosely, which is not a big problem).
Here is Mimi wearing some of my hats:

I love Mimi, she is gorgeous. I also have a “friend” who wears my hats for me. She is a tatty old vintage Christian Dior hat mannequin called “Magic” named by my eldest son, a lot older and less fresh faced than your Mimi but we love her still. Great birthday present! Have you been over to London yet? Cath

My Jane says welcome to the millinery modeling world Mimi! She is so sassy, and stylish; I just love her!
It is such a pleasure to be able to pop a hat on a mannequin and not have to take a picture of one’s own self, especially if the hat really isn’t your own style.
Ebay is such a blessing, Jane came from an ebay site as well. More fun: Jane looks a bit like me, and I think Mimi has a dash of you.
I hope you will let her model a Kentucky Derby day hat for us tomorrow.

I find putting a hat on the a mannequin to be particularly difficult. I don’t think I’d be able to tape my hats on and have them stay.

My hat taping lasts only long enough for me to snap the picture. Perhaps it would be a good idea to have a mannequin head only for small hats and fit that with some strong velcro, or make holes and put some sticks so that the hats stay in place without damaging the hat… we should give that some thought, see what the best idea is!

Mimi is adorable – which eBay seller sold her to you?

Hi Mary Beth.
I’m happy you like Mimi. I’m very happy with her, and she’s cheap without looking cheap!
The ebay seller is displayfashion, and it was a very good transaction. We bought two identical heads (Mimi3), and they applied the special offer they do when you buy two different ones (brunette and redhair).
I asked them to protect them well for the shipment and they did arrive very well protected with strong bubble wrap. They head is very light, so the shipping was not too high. The mannequin was slightly different from their pictures (mine has round cheek colours while the one in the picture had diffused ones), but I see they have updated the pictures.
So, are going to join the Mimi club? 😉

Hi, I like your Mimi head and she looks great with your black squigly looking hat (my favorite). I found your web quite by acident and it is very clever. As you do your own browsing…take a look at Crunkleton Mannequin Heads…you may have a use for these lovely heads. I know they would LOVE your hats. Thanks
