Remember that straw braid hat that I began?… Hats off to Nina!

Image of the finished hat by Nina PawlowskyRemember the day I helped Nina with a hat she was making for a theater play? It was for Oscar Wilde’s play “Lady Windermere’s Fan”, that opened on April 19th 2007 at the Catalan National Theater. I wrote about it here.

I did promise to show you a picture of the finished hat (designed and finished by Nina), and here it is.

By the way, Nina Pawlowsky won two awards for her work on this play. One is the “Adria Gual” award for costume design, given by the ADE (Scene Directors Association) during a ceremony in Madrid. The other one is the Butaca award for best wardrobe.

I say she’s the best and she really deserved those awards, and more!

Here are other shots of this hat:

  2. Gulp……awesome! I am speechless. I loved Windermere’s Fan (the movie version), how fun to make a hat for a play.

  3. WOW indeed. Well deserved awards. How absolutely wonderful to have a friend such as Nina to work with and learn from. And how fabulous for her to have you willing to help, to learn, to shout out her greatness.

  5. Brava, Nina!! Love the way she used the straw braid in various ways. She deserves awards!

Glad to see you experimenting with the Japanese book. I need to locate one too. Am thinking of a way to do an American version. I visited a friend in Texas over the weekend who spent 3 months in Japan and she said she saw hats everywhere…WONDERFUL hats! So glad to hear that!

    Enjoy your lovely Nina Chapeau!

  6. Yes, Nina deserves these awards! She is very talented and has no problem in sharing her knowledge with others, and we all know how rare that can be in this business! She is also a great friend.
I took these pictures and many others of her hats last week at the “Teatre Nacional” wardrobe archive. Nina will be giving a course on millinery for the theater and needed some pictures taken for her presentation.

  7. I’m hosting a virtual Easter bonnet parade on Monday. Post a picture of yourself in your Easter hat, or one of yourself as a child in your EAster hat, and then leave a comment on my post on Monday so folks will know to stop by your part of the parade!
